TECTERRA is dedicated to developing geospatial technology through its work with industry, researchers, and governments. As new industries come into play and gain interest from people early in their careers, it's important to think about recruitment and the role it plays in a prosperous economy. Ensuring the geospatial industry is equipped with a skilled workforce is part of TECTERRA's mission to grow the industry.

Scholarship Program

TECTERRA is pleased to announce that in addition to the $400,000 already committed they will now add an additional $600,000 in funding for the scholarship program. Scholarships are focused on full-time undergraduate students enrolled in remote sensing, computer science with GIS, or geography attending one of four post-secondary schools in Alberta: University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge, SAIT, and NAIT.

The scholarship is awarded to students intending to pursue careers in GIS, remote sensing, land surveying, software development, spatial modeling, mapping, or cartography. Preference will be given to those with experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, and the awards will be based on the number of credit hours completed by the student and financial need.

The scholarship program is part of TECTERRA's vision to encourage growth in the geospatial industry. In addition to the University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) are participating in the program.

Each bursary provides full tuition, books, and fees for students in the final years of their program. By investing in geomatics-related post-secondary students, TECTERRA is investing in the future of the industry. The hope is that these students will end up leading the industry someday, helping to drive innovation and growth in the geospatial technology sector.
